Cox, who averaged a Mountain Empire District-best 17.5 points per game in the regular season, was held to three points in the first three quarters. She turned it on in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points, and her Galax teammates followed suit as the Maroon Tide (23-1) outscored Radford 18-9 in the period. Cox finished the night with a team-high 13 points.
The Bobcats' top cat, Charlee Taylor, fought the Galax onslaught single-handedly, scoring eight of Radford's nine fourth-quarter points. She racked up a game-high 17 points for Radford (15-8), 1.5 off her season average.
Galax moves on to play the winner of the Northwood-Parry McCluer quarterfinal, which was postponed because of inclement weather. The semifinal matchup will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lord Botetourt High School.
