AFRICAN ART LECTURE TONIGHT AT MUSEUM

Richard B. Woodward, curator of African art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, will present a lecture on the influence of ancestors in African art tonight at the Art Museum of Western Virginia.

The lecture, at 7 p.m. in the museum's lecture hall, is one of a series connected to the museum's ``Spirit of the Motherland'' exhibit.

In ``Paths of the Ancestors: Art From Africa,'' Woodward will discuss textiles, masks and statues that reveal African cultures' reverence for ancestors.

For more information, call the museum's education office at 224-1222.
