The 3 p.m. services will have a style that would be appropriate to many faith groups.
Saturday's service will be at First Baptist Church, 315 Third St. S.W. On Sunday, the service will be at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, 4165 Colonial S.W. The Dec. 9 service will be at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 7422 Deer Branch Road, Hollins. The final observance on Dec. 10 will be at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, 707 E. Washington Ave. in Vinton.
A fellowship time follows each service.
BOTETOURT FUEL ASSISTANCE, an ecumenical outreach for the needy of Botetourt County that is supported by several congregations, will sponsor a benefit concert by the Garth Newel Chamber Players on Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. at Fincastle Presbyterian Church. A social time will follow the concert.
THE REV. DR. VATER COLBERT will be honored as the new pastor of Maple Street Baptist Church with special services tonight and Friday at 7:30. A 6 p.m. banquet will be held Saturday.
Colbert, 33, comes from the pastorate of Amelia Baptist Church and previously served a congregation in McKenney. He has a doctorate in Christian education from Liberty University, and he and his wife, Jacqueline, have five children.
CHRISTIAN PRAISE ENSEMBLE will present a program Sunday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 310 N. Jefferson St. Cynthia Coles is the director, and Stephen R. Hughes is the musician.
THE GOOD TWINS, a gospel music duo, will perform Friday at 7 p.m. at Edgewood Christian Church, 1006 Peck St. N.W. The program is free.
FREE TICKETS are now available for the Cave Spring Baptist Church's holiday musical progam, "The Majesty and Glory of Christmas." They may be obtained by calling 989-6136 . The musical will be performed Dec. 1 through 3 nightly at 7 at the church, 4873 Brambleton Ave. S.W.
REVIVAL SERVICES will be in progress Friday through Sunday at West Main Street Church of Christ, 401 W. Main in Salem. Phil Forehand, minister of West Waynesboro Church of Christ, will be guest preacher. Services begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. A nursery will be provided.
A GOSPEL CONCERT, featurning the Rev. J. Eugene Young of Jerusalem Baptist Church and the Rev. Dwight O. Steele of Pilgrim Baptist Church, will be held Sunday at Jerusalem, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W. Usher Board No. 2 of the church is sponsoring the 7 p.m. concert.
