STEPHEN M. KREHBIEL of the Roanoke Beltone Hearing Aid Center has passed the competency examination of the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences and has become board certified.

JERRY O. MOFIELD, a personal financial adviser with the Roanoke office of American Express Financial Advisors Inc., has been named to the company's Advance Planner Group - Senior Financial Advisors. Members of the group are among the highest ranked personal financial advisers in the company and are authorized to provide an expanded scope of services to clients.

LEED'S MUSIC CENTER has been included in Music Trades magazine's Top 200 List, a ranking of music products retailers in the United States based on sales in 1994. Leed's placed 153 on the list.

J. PAT GREEN, CAROL M. SIMMONS, FERMAN W. WERTZ, J. ROBERT VIERS JR. and R. DICKSON TIGRETT III of Green & Associates, a provider of automotive products and financial services to dealers and banks, have passed the Association of Finance & Insurance Professionals' certification program.

LACY L. EDWARDS JR. of MKB Realtors in Roanoke recently was certified by the Real Estate Training Institute of Charlottee, N.C., as a certified buyer representative.

MKB Realtors said Edwards is the only Realtor in the Roanoke Valley to achieve this certification. The company said buyer representation is an emerging national trend in the real estate industry and Edwards has fully qualified to represent buyers.

AL MORRIS of Roanoke is a newly certified member of the American Society of Home Inspectors. He is the operator of American Home Inspectors, a subsidiary of MAJASA Holdings Inc.

DONNA DILLEY, Roanoke director of the National League of Junior Cotillions, was a guest speaker during the group's annual convention in Nashville. Dilley directs several Roanoke-area Junior Cotillion programs that worked with 96 students last year.

J. BLAKE FRAZIER, formerly of Roanoke, has passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination for North Carolina. Frazier, a Northside High School graduate, works at Pepsi Cola national headquarters in Winston-Salem.

THE ROANOKE REGIONAL HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION INC. recently presented several awards. Gary Robertson, utility director for Roanoke County, was named 1995 Public Employee of the Year. He was recognized for his effort to maintain the county's standards and his working relationship with the home building industry.

Dominion Builders received the association's Star Award for receiving the most points in a business competition. Other finalists were: Boone, Boone & Loeb; Fralin &Waldron Inc., Homes By Ron; and Strauss Construction Co.

THE BLUE RIDGE CHAPTER OF THE PROFESSIONAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATORS ASSOCIATION recently received the Bill Helms Chapter of the Year Award at the association's national convention in Atlanta. The award was given for the chapter's outstanding leadership, activities, guest speakers, membership and attitude.

ROBERT M. BOSTIAN has retired from Norfolk Southern Corp. (formerly Norfolk and Western Railway) after 42 years. He most recently was a mobile agent between Roanoke and Buena Vista.

SANDRA COMPTON TEAGUE, daughter of Minnie Compton and the late Raymond Compton of Roanoke, recently was named Air Traffic Control Specialist of the Year by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Air Traffic Controllers Association for outstanding achievements and contributions to the air traffic system. Teague is employed by the FAA at the Reno Nevada Automated Flight Service Station.

ROBERT W. BEIGHTOL, manager of nuclear pharmacy services at Roanoke Memorial Hospitals, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists at the society's annual meeting held in Philadelphia recently.

THE ALPHA WOLF GROUP, a division of Sipos Marketing Services Inc. in Salem, is the recipient of a national marketing communications award for a project it performed for Lewis-Gale Clinic Inc. Sipos Marketing won the award in Healthcare Marketing Report's 12th annual Healthcare Advertising Awards competition. The award was given for a print advertising campaign for radial keratotomy created by the clinic's opthalmology department.

PAUL OH of Optical Cable Corp. in Roanoke has been appointed president of the U.S. Chapter of the Korean Ceramic Society in Seoul, Korea. The society recently opened two overseas chapters, one in the United States and the other in Europe, to provide services to overseas Korean ceramists.

CHARLES "CHICK" RAKES of Roanoke was selected to attend the Standard Life and Accident Insurance Company's 1995 Marketing Conference in Banff, Alberta, Canada , based on his sales and service to policyholders during 1994-1995.

KENNETH E. WIDENER, field representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, was recognized for outstanding life insurance service during the 45th annual convention of the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counsellors at Bloomington, Minn. He has been a representative in the Roanoke area for 10 years.

THE ROANOKE ATHLETIC CLUB has announced several staff changes. Michelle Hartless, previously membership services assistant, is now membership services supervisor, and Ray Houff, formerly a lifeguard, is now housekeeping/maintenance supervisor.

Angela Kral, formerly with the All Sport Fitness and Racquetball Club in Fishkill, N.Y., has been hired as staff supervisor, and Chris Padgett has been hired as a sales representative. He came to the RAC as an intern.

JUDY FERRIS of Roanoke won a $1,000 shopping spree at Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies in a sweepstakes sponsored by Rally's Restaurant.

RANDY ALLEN, assistant service manager at Magic City Ford, is a 1994 Medallion Award winner. The medallion program, sponsored nationally by Ford Motor Co., recognizes employees in service, parts and body shops who excel in providing customer satisfaction.

CLINT JONES and CHET HANCOCK, both of the Virginia Department of Transportation's New Castle headquarters, placed high in the 1955 Salem Residency Truck Rodeo.

Jones, who has been with VDOT for 11 years, won the rodeo, and Hancock, a 10-year employee, was first runner-up. Rodeo participants drove a three-ton dump truck equipped with an 11-foot snowplow blade through an obstacle course to test safety and skill.
