Preparatory seminar for adoptive parents
ABC Adoption Service Inc., a licensed, non-profit agency, is now accepting applications for the last three openings in its next Parent Preparation Homestudy session for the International Adoption Program. Upon completing this series, prospective adoptive parents should be eligible for the assignment of a child by spring.

Town of Vinton seeks applicants
The Town of Vinton is seeking applicants to serve on various council-appointed boards, commissions and committees.
Candidates selected to fill vacancies because of expiration of terms and resignations are picked from the applications maintained on file.
Council appoints members of the Board of Zoning Appeals, Vinton Planning Commission, Fair Housing Board and Highway Safety Commission.
By completing an application, citizens will have the opportunity to select committees of their interest.

Program seeks older volunteers
The Senior Companion Program needs senior citizens, ages 60 and older, on a limited income and willing to give four hours a day to help other seniors.
Volunteers will receive a non-taxed allowance of up to $200 per month, gas money, insurance while volunteering and other benefits.

Operation Santa Claus seeks donations
The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley has started its Operation Santa Claus project.
Operation Santa Claus provides gifts for almost 700 Roanoke Valley residents with mental disabilities who live in the area.
Cash contributions are welcome and will be used to purchase gifts. Make your check payable to the Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley and mail it by Dec. 8 to Post Office Box 592, Roanoke, Va. 24004.
Donated items are also welcome and may be dropped off at Blue Ridge Community Services, Crestar Bank's Cave Spring Corners and Hollins locations and Jefferson Center between Wednesday and Dec. 8.
