IN SCHOOL

JOHN "JACK" EDWARDS JR., son of John and Catherine Edwards of Roanoke, was selected to be included in the 18th edition of the The National Dean's List. He attends Princeton University in New Jersey, where he was on the dean's list. He is a 1994 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

THE CAVE SPRING HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND recently received a superior rating in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors' Association State Marching Festival in Pulaski. The auxiliary - drill team, flag corps, baton twirlers - also received a superior rating. The band is now in contention to be a Virginia Honors Band.

WHITNEY HANES, KATE NETTLES and BRAD WEAVER, all Cave Spring High School students, were selected for the Virginia All-State State Band and the All-State Orchestra. They recently participated in the Virginia Music Educators Association's 50th annual convention.
