Police said the girl told them she was leaving the mall near the Department of Motor Vehicles entrance when a man came up behind her, told her he had a gun and ordered her not to speak. The girl did not see a weapon.
The man then forced her into the front passenger seat of a small red car and told her to keep her eyes closed. The man drove around for an unknown period of time, in an unknown direction, according to police.
He stopped at an unknown location and raped the girl, police said, then drove to a service station on Williamson Road in Roanoke County and forced her out of the car. From there, the girl walked to her home.
Her parents took her to Lewis-Gale Hospital for examination and treatment. Police are continuing to investigate. Youth bureau detectives have not yet spoken directly with the victim.
No arrests have been made.
