NOT A SALES PITCH

In the early 1920s, my grandfather, an immigrant factory worker, was asked to invest $100 in a company that had just entered the stock market. ``Too much money,'' he said. Had he agreed, he would have owned two-and-a-half shares of stock in Coca-Cola Inc.

In 1994, Grandpa's shares would have been worth $295,481.90.

Boy, talk about not picking ``the right one.''

Coca-Cola sells more than 700 million gallons of soft drinks per year worldwide. So, obviously, not all of Coca-Cola's sales are to thirsty polar bears. In fact, Coke has some uses other than guarantying a successful social gathering - ``wherever there's fun, there's always .''

It's true what they say about Coke adding life to chrome bumpers. Dip a piece of crumpled aluminum foil in Coke, add a little elbow grease and rust spots vanish. Coke will also bubble away corrosion from car battery terminals.

We can only wonder how Coke affectsour internal drive systems.

Heard the one about meat left in a glass of Coke dissolving overnight? Not true - but the meat will be marinated.

The Coca-Cola Consumer Information Center offers free recipes using the carbonated concoction, including Mustard Herb Dressing and Sweet-Sour Cabbage. The Twin Cheese Dip doubles as a sandwich filling. So, your sandwich also includes your drink - a real time-saver. Call 1-800-GET COKE.

Put Coke in the bottom of the baking pan when cooking a ham, then use the Coke and drippings mixture to make gravy.

Maybe things do go better with ...
