SUPPORTERS OF WALESA CONTEST VOTE

More than 600,000 supporters of defeated President Lech Walesa have filed challenges to the election in which he lost to a former Communist.

Walesa's backers and a number of people who voted for Aleksander Kwasniewski argued that he had deceived voters by suggesting he held a university degree.

Gdansk University said Kwasniewski studied foreign trade for five years but failed to complete all the courses.
