GIFT SALUTES GRAND LADY WHO'LL BE 92

Blanche Young got an early birthday acknowledgment. She'll turn 92 on Dec. 29, but her son and daughter-in-law wanted to honor her early.

They made a contribution to the Good Neighbors Fund in honor of the woman who loves to talk, likes crocheting and gardening, and who sang in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir.

Jack Young said he and his wife, Margaret, made the contribution because "we wanted to contribute to the fund, and we thought this would be a nice thing to do."

Blanche Young lives at the Raleigh Court Health Center and enjoys having company, her son said. She was married to the late Tillman S. Young, who was in real estate, and together they reared two children.

She's "friendly and jovial," Jack Young said of his mother, who also has six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
