Police said Emmett D. Dillard told them three men came into Quality Tire Service, at 305 11th St., about 2:30 p.m., complaining about a purchase. When the men became disorderly, Dillard asked them to leave. The men refused.
As Dillard tried to call police, he was hit in the back of the head and beaten in the face. Police said the men took $45 from Dillard's shirt pocket and fled. Dillard suffered facial injuries, police said.
In another incident, a 21-year-old Southwest Roanoke man said two men broke into his apartment at gunpoint early Monday, and took cash and jewelry.
Police said Louis McGue of the 2700 block of Brandon Avenue said two men kicked in his apartment door about midnight, yelling for him to get down. McGue, and a woman also in the apartment, complied.
One of the men placed a gun to McGue's head, took him into the bedroom and demanded to know the location of the "loot," according to police. The man took jewelry from a desk in the bedroom and $400 from a clothes hamper. Both men fled.
No arrests have been made in either case.
