BARBOUR, Laetitia, M. 78, of Alexandria, quietly departed during her sleep on Thanksgiving night, November 23, 1995. She is survived by a brother, Stuart A. Barbour Jr.; nieces, Catherine B. Prescott and Mary Stuart B. VanMetre, all of Roanoke, and Elizabeth B. DeFelice, Telluride, Colo.; her surviving aunts are Evelyn G. Hock and Ruth Griggs. She was pre-dec eased by her parents, Stuart A. Barbour and Elizabeth Griggs Barbour. She will join her parents at Evergreen Cemetery following a graveside service Saturday, December 2, 1995 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Taylor Todd presiding. BRATTON, Clifford Arnett, 46, of Roanoke, passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday, November 28, 1995. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office. GAREN, Mabel Dix, born March 21, 1908, died Friday, November 24, 1995, at The Berkshire Nursing Home, Vinton, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald R. Garen. They were natives of Chicago, Ill., and moved to Roanoke in 1973. She is survived by two sisters, Frances Fennell of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Emily Aspeslet of Alberta, Canada; children, Donna L. Cunningham and her spouse, Roy, of Roanoke; Dana H. Garen and his spouse, Helen, of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Elizabeth J. Cohen and her spouse, Steven, of Damascus, Md., David J. Emon and his spouse, Lorri, of Smithsburg, Md., Mark K. Emon and his spouse, Deborah, of Baltimore, Md., Peter D. Emon of Blacksburg, Va. and Donald B. Garen and his spouse, Yuko, of Roanoke, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jason and Gregory Cohen and Christopher and Cynthia Garen, and several loving cousins of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Garen was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Roanoke, Va. (ECW Chapter 7). For many years, she was a faithful volunteer with Operation Head Start and the American Red Cross. She was born in West Virginia on April 8, 1908, and wa s the daughter of the late James Frederick and Elizabeth Blankenship Hughes. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Long and Rosie Nicewander; and one great-grandchild. She attended the Cedar Grove Church of Christ. She is survived by three daughters, Lois H. Conley and Verna H. Kidd, both of Narrows; Fannie H. Thomas, Chicago, Ill.; a son, Berman Hughes, Pembroke; two brothers, Carson Hughes, Narrows; Estil Hughes, Eggleston; two sisters, Lida Havens, Hollybrook, Va., Nona Conley, Narrows; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren. MILLS, Edward Russell, (Retired CSM), 65, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 27, 1995. He was a retired Command Sargeant Major of the United States Army, serving his country for 29 faithful years. He served his country in Germany, Korea, Vietnam and other areas of Europe and the United States. He received the Service Medal for Meritorius Service along with many other awards and letters of appreciation for faithful service. He is survived by his wife, Julia C. Mills; one son, Russell Mills, Roanoke; two brothers, James B. (Ann) Mills and George H. (Augustine) Mills, both of Radford, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Corwin C. Casey (nephew of the deceased) will officiate with the interment in Williams Memorial Park. MOORE, Raymond K., 53, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, November 21, 1995, in Radford Community Hospital. He is now at peace with the Lord. He taught students about geology and life at Radford University for 26 years. He was a modern day renaissance man of truth and honor that lived a simple life doing extra-ordinary things. Out of all of his hobbies his favorites were teaching and playing with his grandchildren. He had a subtle and left-field sense of humor that he did his best to pass on to his children. He was a man of his word that could be trusted to do any job that he took on to the best of his ability. He is much loved and missed by everyone who knew him. STINNETT, Henry Ray, 79, of Orlando, Fla. passed away November 25, 1995. A native of Buchanan, Virginia, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Before retiring he was an Insurance Auditor, moving to Orlando from Virginia in 1954. Mr. Stinnett is survived by his daughter, Sandra Stinnett of Orlando.
