During the holiday season, what do you give a boss who has everything?
For the past couple of years, employees of Old Dominion Glass Inc. in Roanoke have given a donation to the Good Neighbors Fund in honor of their bosses, Ray Tate and Joan Trice.
"We do this because they really appreciate it," said Rosalie Goad, company manager. She has been working at Old Dominion since it opened in 1990.
"They know [the fund] does a lot of good," added Goad, one of 10 employees.
Another contributor, Cynthia Northcross, gave to the fund this year in memory of her sisters-in-law, Emily Northcross, Josephine N. Fagg and Billie Northcross Ellis.
"They were a special family. I just happened to be married into it," said Cynthia Northcross, who was married to William Preston Northcross, a retired Army colonel who died in 1979.
"Billie, who was the founder of North Cross School, died this past fall. Emily was a nurse at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, and Josephine retired from teaching in the Roanoke County School system, then taught music at North Cross School until she was 80," she said.
"We used to spend every Christmas morning at the Northcross family home in Elliston."
