A Bristol, Tenn., man was hit by a car Friday night in Blacksburg as he walked across U.S. 460 to check on the driver of a car he had rear-ended.
Oscar W. Hudgins, 62, was listed in stable condition Saturday at Montgomery Regional Hospital's intensive care unit.
Blacksburg Police Sgt. S. Bishop said Hudgins was traveling east on the 460 bypass near Virginia 314 about 8:30 when he struck a car driven by John M. McDonald, 32, of Riner.
The force of the impact sent McDonald's car into the median. Hudgins got out of his car and headed across the highway to check on McDonald, Bishop said.
As he was walking on the highway, Hudgins was struck by a car driven by Mark A. Jones, 22.
McDonald was treated at Montgomery Regional Hospital's emergency room and released.
No information was available on whether charges would be filed against any of the drivers.
