CELEBRATIONS - ENGAGEMENTS

Field-Crow

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Field of Bedford, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Sperry, to Marty Le-Roy Crow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley L. Crow of Troutville, Va.

Allison is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garnett E. Coleman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Moorman Field, all of Bedford. She is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Florence S. Thompson of Bedford, and the late Dante T.P. Stanford.

Marty is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hardin E. Culp of East Spencer, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Crow of Salisbury, N.C.

Allison is a graduate of Virginia Western Community College and is a senior at Radford University. Marty is a junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in the College of Engineering.

A wedding is planned for the spring of 1997.

Fowlkes-Glontz

Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Fowlkes, Jr. of Danville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Robin Theresa, to Michael Scott Glontz, son of Dr. and Mrs. Gary E. Glontz of Roanoke.|

The bride-elect, a graduate of George Washington High School, received a bachelor of arts degree in English and classics from Randolph-Macon Woman's College. She is employed as a teacher by Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina.|

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in speech communication from Wake Forest University. He is employed as a campaign associate by United Way of Central Carolinas in Charlotte, North Carolina.|

The wedding will be held on February 10 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC.|

Fulton-Hertzberg

Julie Fulton and Russell Hertzberg are engaged and planning to be married on June 1, 1996, in Roanoke. Miss Fulton is the daughter of Mr. Rodney Fulton, Roanoke, and the late Pansy A. Fulton. She graduated from Cave Spring High School and Roanoke College. She is employed by Crawford and Company as an Employment Consultant. Mr. Hertzberg is the son of Mr. Murray Hertzberg, Valhalla, N. Y., and Mrs. Janice Kehrli, White Plains, N. Y. He graduated from Valhalla High School and Roanoke College. He is employed by Hollins College as a Computer Programmer.

Gillespie-Ayres

Jim and Nancy Gillespie of Roanoke, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Annette, to Robert Daniel Ayres, son of Margaret Ayres of Sarasota, Fla.

Annette graduated from Cave Spring High School and Radford University. She is a news reporter for The Bradenton Herald, Bradenton, Fla.

Rob graduated from the University of South Florida and is employed as a regional fund-raising director for Institutional Financing Services.

A summer wedding will be planned.

Harper-Fisher

Cody Huff and Caleb Harper are pleased to announce the engagement of their mother, Carolyn Y. Harper to Douglas R. Fisher.

Carolyn is the daughter of Ron and Pat Schmidt of Rocky Mount, Va. She is a 1983 graduate of Pinellas Park High School in Largo, Florida, and is employed by Fieldcrest Mills in Fieldale, Va.

Douglas is the son of Carlton and Mary Lou Fisher of Hardy, Va. Douglas is a 1978 graduate of Northside High School, and is employed by Hooker Furniture in Roanoke, Va.

A March wedding has been planned.

Honeysett-Lambert

Mr. and Mrs. H. Garratt Honeysett of Annapolis, Md., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Gretchen L. Honeysett, to Scott A. Lambert.

Ms. Honeysett is a graduate of Va. Tech. She is currently employed as an intern architect by Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern in Roanoke, Va.

Mr. Lambert is also a graduate of Va. Tech. He is employed as an intern architect by Architects Boudreax, Hultstrand and Carter in Columbia, S. C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Charles W. Lambert of Daleville, Va.

The couple is planning to be married on August 10, 1996.

Hutcherson-Phillips

Susan A. Hutcherson and Gerard W. Phillips are pleased to announce their engagement. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Hutcherson, Sr. of Hardy, Virginia. Gerard is the son of Mrs. Francis Pfau of Willimantic, Connecticut and the late Mr. William Phillips. Susan attended New River Community College and is now employed as a receptionist/secretary at ISS Cleaning Services Group, Inc. Gerard is a graduate of Holy Apostles Seminary and is now employed at Zolotnick Construction. Both bride-and-groom elect reside in Connecti cut.

Hykes-Carr

Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hykes of Burlington, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Hilary Hykes of Chapel Hill, to Mr. Matthew Kevin Carr of Charlotte. Mr. Carr is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Carr of Roanoke, Virginia.

Ms. Hykes is a graduate of Williams High School and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is coordinator of an AmeriCorps service learning project at North Carolina State University, Raleigh.

Mr. Carr is a magna cum laude graduate of Belmont Abbey College and is currently attending UNC Charlotte. He teaches Mathematics at South Park Academy, Charlotte. An April wedding is planned.

Jones-Clements

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Ford Jones of Moneta are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Ann, to Mark Daniel Clements, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Paul Clements of Wirtz.

Miss Jones graduated from Franklin County High School and Virginia Western Community College. She is currently enrolled at Roanoke College and is employed by the United States Attorney's Office.

Mr. Clements graduated from Franklin County High School and Virginia Western Community College. He is currently employed by Orvis.

A wedding is planned for sometime next year.

Light-McGrath

Jennifer Ann Light and James Henry McGrath, IV are engaged and planning to be married in March, 1996 in Charlottesville.

She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Light of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School, the University of Virginia and T.C. Williams School of Law at University of Richmond. She is employed by Hunton & Williams Law Firm, Richmond, Va.

He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry McGrath, III of Charlottesville. He graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Vir ginia School of Law. He is employed by Hogan & Hartson Law Firm, Washington, D.C

Lyons-Abrams

Kerry Patrice Lyons and Robert Scott Abrams are engaged and planning to be married on August 10, 1996 in Richmond, Va.

She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Lyons of Salem. She is a graduate of Salem High School and Ferrum College, and is employed by Jenny Craig Corporation.

He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Abrams of Columbia, S.C. He graduated from James Madison University and is employed as a Manager of Customer Services at Capital-One Credit Corporate Center.

Martin-Stowers

Bill Stowers and Teresa Martin wish to announce their engagement to their friends and family. Teresa is the daughter of Doug and Virgie Martin of Roanoke, and Ronald and Liz Gibson of Blue Ridge. Bill is the son of Kenneth Stowers of Roanoke, and Jimmie and Betty Bowles of Bluefield, W.Va. He is the grandson of Bill Duncan of Bluefield, W.Va. Wedding plans are set for the spring of 1996.

Moore-Adkins

Mr. Larry D. Moore is pleased to announce the engagement of his daughter, Kimberly Michelle Moore, to Matthew Dean Adkins, son of Linda D. Adkins and the late Toney Adkins.

Dr. and Mrs. David Parks of Blacksburg, Virginia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Denise Parks, to Joseph Adam Miller, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miller, Jr. of Landenberg, Pennsylvania. Ms. Parks graduated from Blacksburg High School and Virginia Tech. She is presently employed by Red Clay Consolidated School District in Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. Miller graduated from Avon Grove High School in West Grove, Pennsylvania and Virginia Tech. He is currently employed by Delmarva Power in Wilmington, Delaware. The couple will wed on J uly 27, 1996 in Newark, Delaware

Rubi-Mayes

Trixie Rubi and Jacob Mayes are engaged and planning to be married January 6, 1996, in Roanoke, Va. Trixie is the daughter of Ms. Eveline Clark, Salem, Va. She graduated from Salem High School and is currently attending Virginia Tech. She is employed by the Kroger Company. Jacob is the son of Bill and Billie Reid, Salem, Va. He graduated from Northside High School and is currently attending New River Community College. He is employed by the Virginia Air National Guard.

Ryan-Mann

Mrs. Audrey A. and the late Thomas J. Ryan of Merrifield, MN. announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Eileen, to Andrew W. Mann, son of Dennis W. and Carylon J. Mann of Monument, CO.|

A December wedding at the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs, CO is planned.|

She is a 1992 graduate of the College of St. Scholastica in MN and is assigned to Laughlin AFB, TX. He is a 1990 graduate of the US Air Force Academy and is assigned to Kadena AFB, Japan.

Basile-Edwards

Dr. and Mrs. Vincent T. Basile are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Zipporah Marie Basile to Mr. David Lee Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Edwards of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Miss Basile is a graduate of North Cross School, Wake Forest University, and Wake Forest University School of Law. She is an associate with the Charlotte, North Carolina law firm Horack, Talley, Pharr and Lowndes.

Mr. Edwards is a graduate of the Baylor School and Wake Forest University. He is an officer with the Charlotte Police Department.

Comer-McKinney

James P. and Barbara R. Comer of Roanoke, Virginia announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Barbara Comer, to Collin J. McKinney, VI, son of Collin J. McKinney, V, of Scottsdale, Arizona and Joy Melton of El Paso, Texas.

The bride-to-be has a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The groom-elect has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A & M. Both work at Duke University Medical Center, and both sing in t he Duke University Chapel Choir where they met. The Duke Chapel wedding is set for December 17th.
