BROWN, Calbert Donald, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 4, 1995. Survivors include his wife, Mary Glover Brown; three sons and daughter-in-law, Jerome Brown, Calbert Brown, Wayne and Nancy Brown; two daughters, Barbara Lynn Brown, all of Roanoke , Jean Brown, Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Willard and Evanegline Brown, Robert and Frances Brown, all of Roanoke, Walter Brown, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bernice and Elder James Perdue, Dorothy Jean Brown, all of Roanoke; six grandchildren; devoted nephew, Eddie Dalton Jr.; devoted friend, George Robinson; a host of other relatives and friends. BUTT, Lewin Norwood, 62, of Shawsville died Monday, December 4, 1995, at the Salem VA Medical Center. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen B. and Ron Hull of Shawsville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Steven L. and Judy Butt of Albany, Ga., Randall D. Butt of Christiansburg. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters -in-law, Lloyd and Garnette Butt of Roanoke, Bernard and Shirley Butt of Lafayette; one sister, Agnes Butt of Salem, and four grandchildren, Sara Beth Robertson, Lindsay Butt, John Butt and Mallory Butt. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 1995, at 10 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Wells officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. CAREY, Earnest Staley, 70, of Fries, died Monday, December 4, 1995. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Chapel, Galax.

DIAL, Elijah Allen, 69, of Topeka, Kan., died Tuesday, December 5, 1995. Born on April 5, 1926, in Huntington, W.Va., he was a son of the late Allen E. and Myrtle Mamie Gue Dial. A U. S. Army veteran, he served in Germany during World War II. He was an ordained United Baptist minister in West Virginia, and was a member of Rock of Ages United Baptist Church in Huntington, W.Va. A printer by trade, he retired from the Roanoke Times & World-News in 1975. He moved back to Huntington in the late 1970s, and moved to Topeka in September of 1995. He is survived by his wife, Thena Mae Williamson Dial of the home; a son, Royce Dial of Topeka; three daughters, Joan Etta Mulford of Knoxville, Tenn., Sheila Kae Statts of Keller, Texas, and Debbie Lynn Agee of Roanoke, Va.; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabell Funeral Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Avenue, Topeka, with burial in Topeka Cemetery. Mr. Dial will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. GIBSON, Virginia Hilton, 79, of Radford, died Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at her home. She was the widow of Paul P. Gibson. She is survived by one sister, Barbara Harkrader, Dublin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. GREGORY, Cleve E., (``Gene""), 68, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was retired from Southland Life Insurance Company. Surviving are his wife, Lacy S. Gregory; son, Lee Gregory and Susan E. Holder of Kensington, Md.; daughter, Eva Marie and Lee Denton, Russellville, Tenn.; daughter, Ginger Graham, Riner; two brothers, Preston Gregory and wife, Eva, Beltsville, Md., Marvin Gregory and wife Avis Lee of Fredericksburg; one sister, Nadine Allen, Blacksburg. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 1995 at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Doug Kanney, with interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. HODGES, Mattie Jones, 96, of Pulaski, and formerly a resident of Cripple Creek for 50 years, died Sunday, December 3, 1995 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Clark and Polly Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Haney Monroe Hodges Sr.; and a son, Harold P. (Buddy) Hodges. She is survived by two daughters and and a son-in-law, Betty and Dow Neece, South Boston, Doris Sage, Waldorf, Md.; three sons, Wayne Hodges, Sebring, Fla., H. M. Hodges Jr., Pulaski; James Hodges, Hanover, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hodges Crawford, Rural Retreat; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6, 1995 at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Bill Hinton and the Rev. Tazz Reid, with the interment in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the residence at any time. HUTCHINS, William Pannell, 67, of Radford, went to be with Jesus on Monday, December 4, 1995 at Radford Community Hospital. He was a Deacon and member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, a member of VFW Post #776 of Radford, and was a retired employee of Hercules with over 41 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette T. Hutchins; three daughters, Brenda Claytor, Judith Turpin, and Eva Gallimore, all of Radford; three stepsons, Barry Duncan, Smith Mountain Lake, James and Billy Duncan, both of Christiansburg; two stepdaughters, Deborah Jennings and Shelby Eanes, both of Radford; two brothers, Argell L. Hutchins, Christiansburg, and John G. Hutchins, Pilot; one sister, Ida Mae Shupe, Clayton, N.C.; five grandchildren; ten stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will beheld Thursday, December 7, 1995 at 2 p.m. at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. JAMISON, William F., 76, of Callaway, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 1995. He was a son of the late Willie C. and Mary Price Jamison and was preceded in death by his daughter, Genevieve Jamison Marshall; and three sisters, Christine Jamison Poff, Lucille Jamison Prillaman, and Elizabeth Jamison Renick. Mr. Jamison was a lifelong member of Fairmont Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. He was also a member of Isaac's Lodge No. 29, A.F. and A.M. Mr. Jamison was retired as DHIA supervisor in Franklin County for 40 years. PRICE, Carl Milton, 70, of Blacksburg, died Monday afternoon, December 4, 1995, at his home. He was born May 24, 1925, at Prices Fork, to the late Carl Miller and Juanita Bell Price. Mr. Price was a guard during the Yalta conference of World War II, protecting President Roosevelt, also serving in t he Pacific Ocean in the Navy. He is survived by his wife, Margaret S. Price; a daughter and son-in-law, Carletta and Randy Ryan, Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sandy Price, Pembroke; two sisters, Thelma Hylton, Prices Fork, and Betty Northrop, Woodstock; and a grandson, Landon Carl Ryan. SELLERS, Dewey Wallace, 76, of Friendship Manor Apartments in Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 5, 1995, in Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem following a sudden illness. He was born November 4, 1919, in Covington, the son of the late Everett Franklin and Mary Gertrude Plott Sellers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Smith Sellers in 1984, and by a grandson, Thomas W. Sellers in 1993. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. E. Wayne Sellers and the Rev. Joyce D. Sellers of Roanoke; a grandson, Troy W. Sellers of Roanoke; three brothers, Connie L. Sellers of Roanoke, Garland Sellers of Lexington and Melvin F. Sellers of Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Tommy (Ruby) Arrington of Calabash, N.C., Mrs. J. W. (Janice) Pence of Covington and Mrs. Don (Ruth) Bledsoe of Adams, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. TAYLOR, Ray Fred, 70, of Elk Creek, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at his home. He was born May 20, 1925 to the late Bayard C. and Geneva Hackler Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phil Taylor and a sister, Fairy T. Jones. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a retired rural letter carrier and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726. Survivors include his wife, Esther L. Taylor, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Tilda T. and Tony Mullins, Hillsville; two grandsons, Benjamin and Nathaniel Mullins, Hillsville; two brothers, Hugh Taylor, Salem, W. Hassell Taylor, Culpepper; two sisters, Lois T. Hall, Conover, N.C., and Wanda T. Cornett, Elk Creek.
