AUTHORITIES SEEK FAMILY OF ATLANTA SUICIDE VICTIM

A 40-year-old man who committed suicide in Atlanta apparently was born in Roanoke, and investigators are trying to find his family.

William Lawrence Nichols was found dead Oct. 17 in a vacant lot in Atlanta, according to Dennis McGowan, chief investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.

Nichols died from a gunshot wound to the head.

By his side was Andrew Beeson, 38, of South Carolina, who also had shot himself in the head.

McGowan said they do not know the motive for the suicides, but do not suspect foul play. Nichols and Beeson most recently had lived in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Anyone with information about Nichols' family is asked to call Dennis McGowan at the Fulton County Medical Examiners Office at (404)730-4400. McGowan said the office is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to take information.
