A Huddleston man convicted of selling 10 grams of crack cocaine was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $25,000 by a Bedford County jury Tuesday.
Tyrone Davis, 25, had two previous drug convictions in Lynchburg and New Jersey. He was arrested after an undercover state police officer said Davis provided him the drug in October 1994.
Davis had pleaded not guilty to the charge, claiming mistaken identity, according to his lawyer, Joseph Sanzone of Lynchburg. Sanzone said another Bedford County jury found Davis not guilty in August of distribution charges that stemmed from a similar drug sale on another day last year.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Joe Kuster said Davis negotiated the $1,200 sale, and Charles Little, also of Huddleston, took the undercover agent's money.
Little was sentenced to seven years for cocaine distribution after he pleaded guilty earlier this year. It was his first offense, Kuster said.
Davis and Little faced a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Both men will be eligible for parole because the offense took place before Jan. 1, when Virginia's no-parole law went into effect.
