MORE TICKETS ON THE WAY FOR HOKIES

Virginia Tech athletic officials announced Wednesday the school has sold its entire initial allotment of 15,000 tickets to the Dec.31 Sugar Bowl against Texas.

The school will receive an additional 2,100 tickets, which will go on sale Friday morning at the Cassell Coliseum ticket office.

Phone orders will be accepted at 1-800-828-3244 with Visa or Master Card. No mail orders or fax orders will be accepted.

In other news:

There will be more than one Olympic soccer coach with Virginia connections. Lauren Gregg, UVa's women's coach since 1986, has resigned her position to join the U.S. women's Olympic soccer team as an assistant coach.

Bruce Arena, UVa's men's coach, will head up the U.S. men's Olympic team in Atlanta.

Gregg's Virginia teams compiled a record of 133-58-15 and participated in eight of the past nine NCAA tournaments. Each of her 10 teams was ranked in the Top 20.

Virginia women's soccer players Karem Esteva and Dina Padula have been named first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association.

Esteva is a freshman defender from Westport, Conn., and Padula is a sophomore forward from Potomac, Md.

Virginia forward Kristen DiMillio, a senior from Leesburg, and Virginia Tech goalie Hope Handley, a sophomore from Maurice, La., were named third-team all-region.

Virginia Tech sophomore goalkeeper Hope Handley has been selected to the third team of the All-Mid-Atlantic Region by the NSCA. Handley finished sixth in the nation with 179 saves this season.

nTwo Virginia Tech student-athletes have been selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.

Senior Jennifer Arbuckle of the volleyball team and junior Tracey Shea of the cross country team were among the athletes chosen from the league's six fall sports.

Arbuckle has a 3.20 GPA and helped the volleyball team to a 22-12 record. Shea has a 3.08 GPA and helped the Hokies cross country team finish fourth in their first season in the Atlantic 10.
