Betty Ward's 93rd birthday is Dec. 13, and a contributor to the Good Neighbors Fund, who wished to remain anonymous, wanted to acknowledge this special lady with a donation in her honor.
Until just a few years ago, Ward worked with her daughter, Carol Pruner, at RAM House, helping butter rolls, prepare cookies and do whatever needed to be done to prepare meals for people who might otherwise go hungry.
"She really enjoyed helping," the donor said, regarding Ward's volunteer efforts at Roanoke Area Ministries' center on Campbell Avenue.
Ward continued her work at RAM House until she moved to The Oaks at Richfield, a retirement community in Salem.
