Construction on Tetra/Secondnature Co.'s 10,000-square-foot expansion should be completed by the first half of 1996, adding approximately 30 jobs, a company official said Friday.
The manufacturer of home aquarium, terrarium and garden pond products is adding to its approximately 200,000-square-foot building to house operations that are being moved from its Oakland, N.J., facilities, said General Manager Alan Mintz.
Tetra, a division of pharmaceutical company Warner-Lambert Co., makes filters, heaters, fish foods and accessories for terrariums. The new jobs will include engineering and assembly line positions, Mintz said.
The company, which employs 100, moved to the Blacksburg Industrial Park in 1993 to consolidate some of its marketing, manufacturing and support services. Tetra had a plant in Pulaski County that closed when it moved to Blacksburg.
This is not the company's first expansion since coming to Blacksburg. Tetra doubled the size of its building during the summer of 1994 after it acquired a New Jersey company that made heaters and filters.
