VAUGHN, Marshall O., 64, of Austinville, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 1995, in Radford Community Hospital. Born in Carroll County on April 9, 1931, he was a son of the late Steven Daniel and Susan Webb Vaughn. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Carter Vaughn; sons and daughters-in-law, William (``Danny"") and Dixie Vaughn of Woodlawn, John Marshall Vaughn of Austinville, and Steven C. and Stacy Vaughn of Woodlawn; daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Basiel Dalton of Dugspur, and Connie and Mike Martin of Hillsville; sisters, Annie Austin and Guida Hillick of Austinville, Dessie L. White of Galax and Ophelia Goad of Navarre, Ohio; brothers, John R. Vaughn, M. Ray Vaughn and Dean Vaughn of Austinville, Coy Vaughn of Max Meadows, E. R. (``Bob"") Vaughn of Navarre, Ohio, and Gilmer G. Vaughn of Massilou, Ohio; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, 1995, at Pleasant View (Pickett) Holiness Church, with the Rev. John Akers and the Rev. Russell Payne officiating. Interment will be in Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Holiness Church. Mr. Vaughn will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday. AKERS, Shirley Price, 69, of Christiansburg, died Monday morning, December 11, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. HAIRSTON, Joe Watkins, 82, of 420 Park Ave., Hopewell, died Monday, December 11, 1995 at his residence. He was born in Rippon, W. Va. and was a resident of Hopewell since 1957. Mr. Hairston was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, a former member of the Hopewell Kiwanis Club, First United Methodist Church and a retired agent yardmaster for Norfolk & Western Railroad, serving 40 years. He was the son of the late Peter Watkins and Lelia Price Hairston. Surviving are his wife, Mae Lee Hairston of Hopewell; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth B. Overby of Sutherland; a stepson, Harry Stanley Bishop of Prince George; a sister, Louisa Breeden; and a brother, Robert T. Hairston, both of Roanoke; four stepgrandsons; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J . T. HANGER, James R. (""Jimmy""), 80 of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 1995. He was a Deputy with the Roanoke City Sheriff's Department and retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Hannger was an Army Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Elsie E. Hanger; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Hanger, Glenn and Wanda Ha nger, Walter and Debra Hanger, all of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Sue H. and Calvin Mitchell, Bedford; step son and wife, James Amos and wife Beverly, Palmyra, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchidren; six step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren. JONES, Louise Estelle, 92, of Radford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 11, 1995 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Br ight Jones. Survivors include her foster daughter and son-in-law, Thelma Steele and Benny Saunders of Radford; two grandsons, Charles (Benjie) B. Saunders Jr. of Blacksburg and Christopher B. Saunders of Radford; several nieces and nephews of Richmond; and a special friend, Lillian Hancock of Radford. Mrs. Jones chose to have her body donated to the State Anatomical Division for medical study and research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Richmond or the SPCA of Richmond. LAN DES, Harold Joseph, 63, of Buena Vista, died Monday, December 11, 1995 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Augusta County on November 19, 1932, he was a son of the late Joseph and Virginia Lotts Landes. He was a retired supervisor at Advanced Drainage Systems, and a member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Ramsey. He is survived by his wife, Jean Smith Landes, Buena Vista; eight children, Dorothy Wilmore, Ronnie Ramsey, Jamie George, Toni Kennedy, Tracy Garrett, and Harold J. Landes Jr., all of Buena Vista, Jacqueline Creamer, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Rita Wells, Staunton; three sisters, Lillian Price, Grottoes, Shirley Dean, Lyndhurst, and Corrine Cummings, Waynesboro; three brothers, Bill Landes, Newport News, Lewis Landes, Crimora, and Charles Landes, Glasgow; a very special great-granddaughter, Courtney George; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. LITTLE, Sampson, 76, of Bedford, and formerly of Evington, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 1995, at the residence of his nephew. He was born August 25, 1919 in Campbell County, a son of the late John Abner Little and Mary E. Cox Little. His wife was the late Virginia Bell English Little. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Bethlehem Bapti st Church. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Jack English, Bedford; a sister-in-law, Ann Brown, Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 14, 1995, at 11 a.m. from the Bethlehem Baptist Church, by the Rev. Tim Dooley and the Rev. Norman Gooding. MARSHALL, Dewey Clyde, 76, of Hillsville, died Monday, December 11, 1995. He was born November 24, 1919 in Hillsville, the son of the late Vasco Elmond Marshall and Edna Lucy Guynn Marshall. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmond Gale Marshall and one sister, Roberta Miller. Clyde was a Motor Sgt. in World War II from June 1943 to January 1946 and a member of Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115 and Hillsville Masonic Lodge. Clyde was injured in an accident on Fancy Gap Mountain while on duty with with McGrady Motor Company retrieving a wrecked vehicle 35 years ago and has been hospitalized every since. He is survived by two sisters, Ethelene Iroler and Faye Mills, both of Fancy Gap; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B. and Mary Alice Marshall, Pulaski, Wayne and Virginia Marshall, Kernersville, N.C.; nine nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 1995, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Duane Steele officiating. Interment will be in Worrell Memorial Cemetery. McGEORGE, Aubrey Eugene, 75, of Roanoke, died Monday, December 11, 1995. He had retired from the Roanoke City Fire Department with over 35 years of service and is survived by his wife, Marie Amos McGeorge; sons, Kenneth O. McGeorge, Roanoke, Richard E. and wife, Bonnie McGeorge, Plantation, Fla.; grandchildren, Chris and Matthew Mc George, Roanoke, Randy and Jason McGeorge, Plantation, Fla.; stepgrandchildren, Angela and Baron Moseley, both of Roanoke; three nieces; two nephews. POOLE, J. Forrest, 92, of Flatridge, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 1995, at Blue Ridge Highlands Nursing Home in Galax. Born to John and Mary Roberts Poole in Flatridge, the Roberts Cove Community, he was raised in the Bethel Community of Grayson County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Cornett Poole; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Poole; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Arlyn Poole, Howard Poole, and Riley and Verna Poole; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Steve Hash, Ethel and Sam Palmer, and Callie Mae and Roy Wingate. Surviving are two sons, Robert D. Poole of Flatridge and Paul P. Poole of Havre-de-Grace, Md..; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Lee and Charles Keitel of Elk Creek and Jeannette E. Poole of Flatridge; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jean Poole of Harrisonburg; two sisters-in-law, Hallie Poole of Raphine and Inez Poole of Dayton; two special nephews, Harold Wingate of Catawba and Joe Wingate of Salem; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several other nephews, nieces and cousins. PRICE, Howard Herman, 83, of Salem, died Monday, December 11, 1995, in a Salem hospital. He was the owner and operator of Price's ESSO S tation in Salem for many years. He was a life member of the Central United Methodist Church in Salem. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cecilia P. and Jimmie (Buck) Fielder, Salem, Corinda and Sam Hodges, Roanoke; one sister, Agnes P. Nowlin, Princeton, N.J.; six grandchildren, Julie Alexander, Angela Fielder, Sherry Lindamood, Jim Fielder, Tamara Webb, David Hodges; eight great-grandchildren, Brad Fielder, Chad Scott, Adam Boswell, Andrew Scott, Caitlin Alexander, Kristina Hodges, Daniel Lindamood, Miranda Hodges. TAYLOR, Raymond Glenn 84, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 12, 1995. He was a retired Accountant with Appalachian Electric Power Company with 47 years of service. Mr. Taylor was active in the Virginia Heights Baptist Church as a Deacon and Teacher of the Raymond G. Taylor Bible Class and former superintendent of the Adult Department. He was a Boy Scout Master and president of the Men's Brotherhood. Mr. Taylor was former president of the Raleigh Court Lions Club and had served as cabinet secretary of the State Lions Club. He was active in the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce and was treasurer of the Roanoke Cotillion Club for many years. Surviving is his wife, Lula Moore Taylor; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald G. and Donna Taylor, Va. Beach; one brother, Harry P. Taylor; one sister, Sybil T. Richards, both of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Susan Walker and Cynthia Vaught; two great-grands ons, Christopher Vaught and Brandon Vaught. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 1 p.m. Thursday, December 14,1995, with the Dr. Daniel Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
