MAN CHARGED WITH TAKING PURSE

Police arrested a 24-year-old Roanoke County man late Wednesday and charged him with robbing a 76-year-old woman as she walked to her car Tuesday afternoon.

Stewart Duncan Jamison of Poage Valley Road also was charged with violation of probation by Roanoke County authorities and remained in Roanoke County Jail Thursday afternoon.

Police charged Jamison with robbing Margaret Richardson Baker as she walked to her car in the 4900 block of Grandin Road Southwest. About 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, a man grabbed her purse, which contained $55, and fled.
