A china-painting class gave a contribution to the Good Neighbors Fund in honor of its teacher, Agnes Roberson. Roberson has been teaching the class since the early '60s.
"She's taught a lot of people how to paint," said her sister-in-law, Janet Kessler, who has been in the class since 1969.
Members of the class, which meets once a week on Tuesdays, use a special paint that is pulverized and then mixed with oil. After each layer of paint is applied, the china piece is fired in a kiln, usually three or four times altogether.
How did the class start contributing to the Good Neighbors Fund?
"We used to exchange gifts at Christmas," explained Kessler. "But that really got to be kind of a bother, so now we just pool our money and put it to a good use."
