TECH STUDENT KILLED IN GILES COUNTY WRECK

A Virginia Tech student was killed early Wednesday when his car hit a parked truck in Giles County.

State police said Matthew Raymond Petrasy, 21, was driving west in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 460 near Pembroke when his car ran off the left side of the road and struck a parked pickup truck.

Petrasy, a horticulture major from Richmond, was dead at the scene.

The accident happened about 3:15 a.m., east of Virginia 771.

No further information was available Wednesday evening.
