A Giles County woman died Wednesday from injuries after a single-vehicle accident near Rich Creek.
State police said Victoria M. Johnson, 27, of Pearisburg, was pronounced dead at Giles Memorial Hospital at 4:10 p.m., about 90 minutes after the wreck.
Trooper Steve Hall said Johnson was driving west on U.S. 460 between Narrows and Rich Creek when her truck went off the road to the right, came back onto the highway and struck a left guardrail, then went airborne over an embankment. The truck landed in the passing lane of U.S. 460 East, a drop of about 100 feet, Hall estimated.
The truck landed on its side, and Johnson was partially pinned under the wreckage. Emergency crews lifted the truck to remove the woman and took her to Giles Memorial.
