Young & Prickitt P.C., a certified public accounting firm in Roanoke, traditionally makes a charitable contribution at the end of the year, usually to a hospice or some other good cause in the Roanoke Valley, according to Carson Young, director of the firm.
This year, the accountants chose the Good Neighbors Fund as the recipient of their donation to honor the memory of a longtime client, Maria Isabella Monteleone Zangari. Zangari had been a client with the firm for 15 years when she died Dec. 16 at age 91.
She was born in Catanazaro, Italy, and came to the United States in 1935, living in Norton, W.Va., for 43 years. For the last 18 years of her life, she lived in Roanoke, where her daughter and son-in-law, Rosina and Bill Stack, now reside. The Stacks also are clients of Young & Prickett.
"She was really a nice lady," said Young, "and we wanted to make a donation to the fund in her memory."
