Tour docents
Adults are interested in history and preservation are being sought to volunteer their time at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest.
Volunteers can help as tour docents, leading school programs, assisting in the museum shop and helping with administrative tasks.
Volunteers must complete a training program which starts Feb. 10. A minimum of six volunteer hours per month us required from April through November. Interviews for volunteer positions will begin Jan. 15.

Jeff Evans, a Roanoke native and outdoor living instructor, on Dec. 27 will present slides and a narrative of his history-making climb to the summit of Alaska's Mount McKinley.
Evans' expedition included the first blind man to climb to the mountain's summit as part of Highsights '95, sponsored by the American Foundation for the Blind.
Slides of the team's training climbs in Colorado and Washington will also be shown.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1831 Deyerle Road S.W., Roanoke.
