APARTMENT DAMAGED IN FIRE

An apartment in Roanoke's Old Southwest neighborhood sustained $20,000 in damages after a fire broke out in a bedroom early Saturday.

The Roanoke Fire Department dispatched two engines and a ladder truck to a two-story apartment at 402 Woods Ave. at 5:30 a.m. The fire was contained to a bedroom. One firefighter injured his arm pulling a hose; no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
