Glenvar adjusted to the press at halftime and the big men had foul problems for Patrick Henry as the Highlanders beat the Patriots 57-48 in the consolation round of the NationsBank Holiday Hoops Classic on Wednesday at the Salem Civic Center.
Down by five at the half, Glenvar (4-3) took the lead in the third quarter. The Highlanders catch William Fleming today at 11:45 a.m. to settle fifth place in the tournament.
Cory Willis led Glenvar with a game-high 24 points while guard Josh Williamson added 16.
PH (4-5) was paced by sophomore Boo Battle as the only double-figure scorer with 17. Battle was one of two Patriots who fouled out.
William Fleming 77, Franklin County 47: The Colonels (6-3) outscored the Eagles 19-0 in the second quarter to settle the consolation game between two Roanoke Valley District rivals.
Fleming was paced by guards R.J. Reynolds and Charles Burnette with 15 points apiece. Reynolds and Richard Wilson each hit three 3-point goals, including two apiece in the second quarter.
Franklin County (1-8), which squares off this morning at 10 against Patrick Henry for seventh place, was paced by Jamie Dunn with 10.
