GIANT SNOWBALL THROWER CHARGED

The man who was photographed throwing a snowball at a football game in Giants Stadium was charged Wednesday with improper behavior.

Jeffrey Lange, 26, of Bridgewater, posted $250 bail and will appear in Municipal Court at an undisclosed date for a hearing, said state police spokesman John Hagerty.

Lange could face up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine if found guilty of throwing snowballs onto the field during the New York Giants-San Diego Chargers game Saturday.

Giants officials said 15 people who called the team gave the same identity for the man photographed by The Associated Press.

The Giants also said Wednesday they were taking a full-page ad in Friday's San Diego Union, apologizing to the Chargers and wishing them well in the playoffs ``on behalf of the 99.99 percent of Giants fans who are the best fans in sports.''

The Giants said Tuesday they would revoke 75 season-ticket subscriptions because of a snowball barrage that left 15 people injured at Saturday's game. Fifteen people were arrested and 175 were ejected from the stadium for throwing snowballs.

The Giants and the sports authority offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who identified Lange or provided his seat location. The first person who correctly identified the man will receive the reward, Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said.
