The Christiansburg Police Department Memorial Scholarship Inc. Fund has received a donation from the son of a department police officer.
Josh Brumfield, son of Gary L. Brumfield II, organized a softball tournament and donated $527.32 to the scholarship fund, started by the department after Officer Terry Griffith was killed in the line of duty in 1994.
Griffith's graduating high school class, Christiansburg High '75, recently donated $500 to the fund, and Christiansburg Police Department employees donate to it through voluntary payroll deductions.
The police department does not actively solicit donations but will accept checks made payable to the fund.
The mailing address is Christiansburg Police Department, 100 E. Main St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073.

Officer Donald Cromer, the Christiansburg Police Department's DARE officer, and Sam Snuffer, with the Christiansburg Jaycees, made Christmas brighter for 50 children in the area.
Cromer approached Snuffer with the idea of buying toys for children who "would have little or no Christmas otherwise," he said.
The Jaycees spent about $600 on toys, and Kmart and Big Lots reduced toy prices for the group.
Snuffer said they had to drive all the way to Big Lots in Roanoke just to find enough basketballs for the children.
The Jaycees had enough left over to buy food baskets for 16 families.
On Christmas Eve, Cromer and his friend Larry Sowers, who dressed as Santa, delivered the gifts in a police car.
