Lancaster anniversary
Robert W. and Grace M. Lancaster celebrated their 60th anniversary on December 19th, 1995 at Belmont Baptist Church. It was hosted by daughter-in-law, Delores Lancaster; niece, Bell Gills; and daughter, Brenda Ricker.
The couple were married on December 14th, 1935 in the Methodist Parsonage. They have resided in Roanoke for 50 years. Their children are Bobby Lancaster of Vinton, Va., Betty Borden of Woodstock, Va. and Brenda Ricker of Roanoke, Va. They have 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lancaster, the former Grace Mae Tolley, is retired from H. L. Green & Co. Mr. Lancaster is retired from S.H. Heironimus Roanoke. They are members of Belmont Baptist Church
Layman anniversary
Clarence Jett Layman and Dorothy Wood Layman celebrated their 50th anniversary on December 29, 1995. The celebration was held at Williamson Road No. 163 Masonic Lodge and was hosted by their children. The couple was married December 29, 1945, in New Castle, Va. They have lived in Roanoke, Va., since 1945. Mrs. Layman is the former Dorothy Elizabeth Wood. The couple's children are Mary L. Spencer, David J. Layman, Michael W. Layman, Bettie L. Counts and Rebecca L. Kelley. They have 12 grandchildren. Mr. Layman is retired from Roanoke City and Mrs. Layman is a homemaker and craftmaker. They belong to Villa Heights Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Police, Old Dominion Lodge No. 1, Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary, Williamson Road Lodge No. 163 of AF & AM, Woodmen of the World. Out of town guests attending the celebration were their daughters, Mary L. Spencer of Fredericksburg, Va., and Bettie L. Counts of Unionville, Va.
Swink anniversary
Joe and Edna Swink of Salem, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at a reception given by their children on Saturday, December 30 at the Roanoke Airport Marriott. They were married on December 17, 1955 in Lexington, Va., and have lived in Roanoke County for the past 38 years. Joe Swink was previously employed as a Supervisor of Maintenance for the Roanoke County School Board, and retired after 30 years of service. Edna Miller Swink retired in 1995 after 20 years of service as a Registered Nurse at Lewis-Gale Hospital. They have four children, Teresa Swink Bost of Lexington, S.C., Denise Swink Sibley, MD of Johnson City, Tn., Sharon Swink Landrum of Aylett, Va., and Kent Swink of Clemmons, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
Tilley anniversary
Bernard and Christine Tilley celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on December 22, 1995. The were honored with a reception given by their children on December 9, 1995 at Radford Christian Church.
Tribble anniversary
Lt. Col. Randolph L. Tribble (Ret.) and Anna Laura Tribble of Blacksburg, Va., celebrated their 50th anniversary on December 24, 1995. The couple was married December 24, 1945 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
She's the former Anna Laura Henderson. They have three children, Randolph Louis Tribble, Jr., Blacksburg, Phyllis T. Harmon, Roanoke, and Beryl C. Tribble, Roanoke. They have two granddaughters.
