She is a graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia and North Georgia College, where she received a Bachelors in Finance/Marketing. She is employed by Transamerica Commercial Finance, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl D. Quam of Roanoke, Va. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Virginia Tech where he received a Bachelors in Psychology. He is employed by Medi-Plast International in Alpharetta, Georgia
Becker-Martin
Gerin Elizabeth Becker and Edwin R. Martin are engaged and planning to be married May 24, 1997, in DeWitt, N. Y. Miss Becker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary J. Becker of Fayetteville, N. Y. She graduated from Radford University and is employed by Honey Tree Early Learning Center. Mr. Martin is the son of Mr. E. Ray Martin of Callands, Va., and Dr. Glenda Camp of Radford, Va. He graduated from Radford University and is employed by Grand Piano and Furniture Company.
Cranwell-Johnson
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Cranwell of Roanoke, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Corliss Marie Mullins Cranwell to Christopher Todd Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick F. Johnson of Covington.
The bride-elect attended Va. Polytechnical Institute and is employed by HCMF, Corp.

She is currently employed as a Corporate Sales Assistant by Smith Barney in Richmond. Mr. Clifton is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is employed as a Democratic Political Strategist for Bevill M. Dean in Richmond.

Shiner-Smith
Dr. and Mrs. Philip Thompson Shiner of Roanoke announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Thure Shiner to Mr. Jeffrey Mark Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith of Harrisonburg.
Miss Shiner is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the College of William and Mary. She is a recruiter for Capital One Financial Corporation in Richmond.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and James Madison University. He is a site manager for Capital One Financial Corporation.

Stenzel-Martin
Kristi Lyn Stenzel and Brian Scott Martin are engaged and planning to be married on May 18, 1996.
Kristi is the daughter of Dean and Judi Stenzel of Wilmington, De. She graduated from Martinsville High School and the University of Virginia. She is the Assistant Director and Afterschool Coordinator a t the McVitty Honeytree Early Learning Center.
Brian is the son of Frank and Shirley Martin of Roanoke, Va. He graduated from Cave Spring High School and National Business College. He is the Afterschool Lead Teacher at the McVitty Honeytree Early Learning Center.
Stephenson-Funk
Dr. and Mrs. F. William Stephenson announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Kate Elizabeth, to James Robert Funk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Funk of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Kate graduated from Duke University and is pursuing a Ph.D. in English at the University of Virginia. Also a graduate of Duke University, Jim is earning a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Virginia.
Following a June wedding at Christ Episcopal Church in Blacksburg, the couple will reside in Charlottesville.
Whitlow-Layman
Mr. and Mrs. Barney C. Whitlow of Copper Hill, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sharon Louise, to Mr. Charles K. Layman, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Layman of Blacksburg. A June wedding is planned.
Miss Whitlow will graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University in May. Mr. Layman is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is presently designing and building astronomical observatories.
