Barter Theatre will extend its season into January for the first time with a musical comedy, "The Cow Pattys."
The play was scheduled to finish Dec. 23 at Barter Stage II, across the street from the main theater, which is now undergoing renovations. But now it will return Jan. 4 for another four weeks.
The extension coincides with a change in the traditional Barter schedule, usually from spring to the end of the year. Now, Barter will operate all year, with plays either at the main theater or Stage II, formerly known as the Barter Playhouse. This will be Barter's first January performance.
"`The Cow Pattys' started strong for us in November and kept building through the holiday season," said Barter Artistic Director Richard Rose. "We're entering an exciting new era, doing business in a new way, and we're going to have fun doing it."
The four actresses and co-creators of the show are Adrienne Braswell, Joy Cunningham, C.K. McFarland and Donna Stevens, who label their play as "an evening of moosic, cowmedy and brahma."
The production is full of Texas-style tall tales, songs such as "Buffalo Gals" and "Bobby McGee," and parodies like "Stand By Your Fan" and "If Jesus Was A Cowboy."
The show will be presented Thursdays through Sundays, with a Saturday matinee. Further information and reservations are available by calling 628-3991 or toll-free 1-800-368-3240.
