COURTNEY KEISTER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. Keister of Roanoke, has joined Earle Palmer Brown, a public relations firm in Richmond, as an associate. Keister, who graduated from Cave Spring High School and the University of Virginia, formerly was employed by the Virginia Lottery in its public relations department.

SGT. JACK CAMDEN of the Roanoke County Police Department recently graduated from the Administrative Officers Management Program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. AOMP alumni represent law enforcement agencies in 11 states, Bermuda, Canada and Great Britain.

THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF FUND RAISING EXECUTIVES has given National Philanthropy Day Awards to six Roanoke Valley residents. The recipients and their awards are: George B. Cartledge Sr., Outstanding Philanthropist award, sponsored by Central Fidelity Bank; Dr. Linda Russell, Outstanding Young Volunteer Fund Raiser award, sponsored by The Foundation for Roanoke Valley; Jean Glontz, Outstanding Volunteer Fund Raiser award, sponsored by Cox Communications; First Fridays at Five Inc., Outstanding Philanthropic Organization award, sponsored by Junior League of Roanoke Valley; Jesse E. Kent of Carilion Health System, Outstanding Fund Raising Executive award, sponsored by the First Virginia Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives; and Cox Communications, Outstanding Corporation award, sponsored by Trigon.

ALFRED "FRED" C. ANDERSON of Roanoke County has earned re-certification as a certified government treasurer from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service in Charlottesville and the Division of Continuing Education of the University of Virginia.

J.C. TAYLOR of Century 21 Young Realty Co. in Salem has received the Sales Achievement Gold Award, which is the highest quarterly award given in each district by Century 21.

PATRICIA L. COLLINS, vice president of First Union National Bank of Virginia, recently graduated with honors from the ABA National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Chicago. Collins joined the personal trust and estate administration department of the bank in 1983.
