ACTIVISTS TO PASS THROUGH PEARISBURG

A group of religious activists who are walking from Cleveland to Fort Benning, Ga., will be traveling through Pearisburg on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

The walkers will accept donations of lodging, food, transportation and other aid. They are expected to arrive late in the afternoon.

The group departed from Washington Nov. 16 and arrived in Cleveland Dec. 2; it is scheduled to arrive at Fort Benning on Feb. 21, Ash Wednesday.

The activists are protesting the School of the Americas, a training center at Fort Benning where Central American military officers and police have learned military tactics.
