STATE HOMES SALES RISE

Pending home sales in the state were up 6.71 percent in November from the same period last year, according to the home sales survey of the Virginia Association of Realtors.

The report shows that sales for November were up as 4,215 new and existing homes were placed under contract compared to the figure of 3,950 for November 1994.

The first eleven months of the year showed a very slight decline over last year of 2 percent. During that period, 57,615 single family homes were placed under contract compared to 58,796 for 1994.

Increases in home sales were seen in 14 of the 26 areas reporting, including Bristol, Charlottesville, Danville, the Dulles area, Fredericksburg, Harrisonburg-Rockingham, Lynchburg, Massanutten, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Roanoke, Southwest Virginia, Tidewater and Williamsburg.

The average sales price was $111,654, down from $112,027 last year. Houses spent an average of 101 days on the market.
