All's well that spills well.
That corn spread out on an Ellett Valley hillside since Sunday's major train derailment in Montgomery County might not be a waste after all.
A Norfolk Southern spokesman said Friday the winning contractor on the cleanup job will be working this weekend to remove and salvage the 8,100 tons of grain.
The initial report had been that the grain, which was en route from Indiana to North Carolina at the time of the derailment, was a loss. But NS spokesman Rob Chapman said Friday the contractor will be able to salvage much of the grain, all of which will be removed from the scene.
