League sponsors budget discussion
BLACKSBURG - The Montgomery County League of Women Voters will sponsor a panel discussion, "How New Budget Priorities Will Affect Local Services," on Jan. 30, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St.
Panelists include Dan Farris, director of Montgomery County Social Services; Fran Mitchell, employee development director, New River Community College; Terry Smuz, director, New River Community Action; Andy Swiger, dean, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Virginia Tech; and Sharon Wood, director, Community Education and Prevention Services, New River Community Services Board.
The program will be aired on Channel 2.

Book signing in Blacksburg
BLACKSBURG - Christopher P. Neck will sign copies of his book, "Medicine for the Mind," at University Volume Two Bookstore, on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m.
"Medicine for the Mind" encourages the reader to achieve dreams and aspirations. Neck specializes in human behavior, leadership, motivation and group decision-making. He is an assistant professor of Management at Virginia Tech.
