A 38-year-old Northwest Roanoke man has been charged with raping and robbing a co-worker at knifepoint early Sunday.
According to Roanoke police, a 30-year-old woman, a friend and the man left work and went to the man's apartment about 6 a.m. Sunday. After the woman's friend left the apartment, the man pulled a knife, telling the woman she was not going to leave, police said.
The man walked her to a pay phone, where she called her boyfriend and told him she would be spending the night at a friend's house because she had been drinking, police said. Once back at the apartment, the man held her at knifepoint, raped her and hit her in the head with his fist, police said.
Police said the woman told them she was allowed to leave only after she gave the man all her money.
