TRIPLE-DECKER PIZZA, really one pizza lying on top of another, is the latest from the Stuffed Crust people
Having already stuffed the crust in its drive to cram every last inch of pizza with cheese, Pizza Hut is now introducing a TripleDecker pie with two thin crusts and two gooey layers.
Much to the dismay of anti-fat crusaders, Pizza Hut's latest addition to the fast-food world bulges with a six-cheese blend on the lower level of the new structure - essentially one pizza lying on top of another - more like a quadra-decker or a double-decker.
The chewy new pie, which sells for $9.99 with one topping, tips the scales with about 400 calories and 17 grams of fat per slice, about 4 grams more than a slice of the similarly priced Stuffed Crust with the same ham topping.
But building - vertically - on the success of the Stuffed Crust pizza the company introduced 10 months ago, Pizza Hut has decided that the way to go in pizza is cheese, and plenty of it.
Pizza Hut said its new pie will be introduced Sunday at the company's 8,300 locations in the United States and Canada.
