Kevin Lambert's tip-in at the buzzer gave Heritage a 66-64 boys' victory over Patrick Henry on Thursday night in a non-district game at the Patriots' gym.
The Pioneers called time out with 15 seconds remaining and the score tied at 64. Lewis Tardy, who led Heritage with 19 points, drove the lane and missed. Lambert, who scored 10 of his 16 points in the final period, was there for the tip.
Patrick Henry (6-7) led 31-26 at the half. Boo Battle paced the Patriots with 28 points, 13 coming in the final period. Brooks Berry and Battle also grabbed 10 rebounds each for PH, which shot 57 percent from the floor for the game.
The Patriots connected on 11 of 12 free throws, while Heritage hit only eight of 19.
Miller School 63, Roanoke Catholic 49: Sharif Brown and Kevin Johnson nearly outscored the Celtics by themselves as Miller School won a non-district game at Catholic.
Brown had 26 points and Johnson added 20, helping the winners take an early lead they never relinquished.
Roanoke Catholic (2-7) got 19 points from Brendan McCarthy.
Carlisle 71, North Cross 58: Joseph McClinton scored nine of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, and the Chiefs hit 11 3-pointers to put away the Raiders in a Virginia Independent Conference game in Martinsville.
North Cross was led by Jeff Baetz, who scored 17 points.
Girls
North Cross 25, Stuart Hall 24: Ann Ballenger drilled a jumper with two seconds left to lift the Raiders over the Devils in a Blue Ridge Conference game at North Cross.
Stuart Hall (1-7, 0-5) had taken a 24-23 lead on free throw by Alicia Harman with less than a minute left. Ballenger led North Cross (3-4, 3-1) with 13 points.
Heritage 56, Patrick Henry 44: The Patriots (0-11) rallied in the second half, but couldn't overcome a slow start in losing to the Pioneers (3-4) in a non-district game at PH.
Patrick Henry (0-11) cut its deficit to six points in the fourth quarter. Carrie Moore and Renee Hill had 10 points each for PH.
