BLACKSBURG - David W. Denny is the new marketing director at Draper Aden Associates.
A native of Danville, Denny received his undergraduate degree in geology from Washington and Lee University and a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Tennessee. He previously was director of sales and marketing for GeoTesting Express, an Acton, Mass., firm. He also has held positions in environmental and engineering firms in Raleigh, N.C.
Draper Aden is a full-service engineering and surveying firm, headquartered in Blacksburg.
Winners announced in agency's elections
BLACKSBURG - Local winners in the Farm Service Agency elections are:
Montgomery County Committee: Allen Sisson, Randolph Altizer and Woody Mitchell.
Blacksburg Community Committee: Chuck Shorter, Rick Wall and Martha McDonald.
Wall to represent young farmers
BLACKSBURG - Jeffrey D. Wall of Blacksburg is to represent young farmers in the New River Valley during his two years on the Southern States Young Farmer Advisory Board.
The board's objectives are to involve young farmers in cooperative activities, give information about the cooperative, provide an opportunity for an exchange of ideas with management, and develop young farmers for leadership roles.
The board will meet in in Richmond Feb. 6 through 8.
Women's group to observe painting
PULASKI - Pulaski Christian Business and Professional Women, a nondenominational organization, will meet Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Appalachian Building in downtown Pulaski.
The theme of the meeting is "One Picture is Worth a Thousand Words." Lisa Lorton of Dublin will demonstrate painting with music; Ann Rhudy of Christiansburg will demonstrate painting with color; and Debbie Rogers of Hinton, W.Va., will demonstrate painting with love.
Dinner during the meeting will be $6.95.

Sanitation course will be offered
BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and Department of Health will sponsor a 16-hour Applied Foodservice Sanitation course Feb. 6, 8, 13 and 15 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day at the Donaldson Brown Center at Virginia Tech.
The course will include information on contamination, food storage, employee sanitation training, pest control, accident prevention and other topics.
The course will lead to certification and will be taught by extension service home economists and environmental health specialists.
