Randolph-Macon's women's basketball team has developed a habit of winning home games. Unless the opponent is Roanoke College, that is.
The Maroons upset the Yellow Jackets 84-73 in an Old Dominion Conference game on Sunday, snapping Randolph-Macon's 23-game winning streak at Crenshaw Gymnasium. Roanoke also was the last team to beat the Jackets in Ashland, winning on Feb.8, 1994.
Marcee Hufton paced Roanoke (10-3 overall, 8-2 ODAC) with 20 points, 13 coming on free throws. Suzanne Moore added 19.
Jenn Kohler led the Jackets (15-1, 11-1) with 20 points, while Aimee Beightol, a freshman from Cave Spring, added 16.
Roanoke took the lead for good at 62-60 on Moore's 3-pointer with 7:35 left. The Maroons then made 10 of 11 free-throw attempts in the last 1:11 to seal the victory.
