'Krafty Kids' on WTOB

RADFORD - The following programs air on WTOB Channel 2:

"Krafty Kids," an arts and crafts series for children and parents, airs Monday, Jan. 29 at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"Community Speaking: The New Century Council" focuses on the plan for the future of the New River and Roanoke Valleys on Monday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m.

The sports talk show "Sports Authorities" presents highlights and results and from Virginia Tech sports and also includes interviews with team players and coaches. The show airs on Monday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m.

Environmental clean-up is the focus of the Tuesday, Jan. 30, edition of "Community Speaking." The show will discuss ways to keep the environment clean as well as how to make the community a better place to live. "Community Speaking" is on at 7 p.m.

The League of Women Voters in Montgomery County is sponsoring a live forum on "How New Budget Priorities Will Affect Local Services" on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m.

Crandall Shifflet hosts "The Civil War in Appalachia" highlighting the effects the war had on the Appalachian area Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7:20 p.m.

"Hard Times, Rich Memories," a documentary tracing the coal industry and the lives of Montgomery County miners airs Thursday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m.

Water plants back to normal

PULASKI - Water treatment plants are operating at their normal capacity in Pulaski County and the town of Pulaski. Residents and businesses helped conserve water during recent floods.

Girl Scout cookies on sale

SALEM - Girl Scout cookies are now on sale. All eight varieties - Samoas, Juliettes, Trefoils, Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, Tagalongs, Chalet Cremes and Snaps - are available for $2.50 a box.

NRCC Ambassadors plan craft show

DUBLIN - The Ambassadors of New River Community College are looking for artists and artisans to reserve spaces for a craft show to be held in Dublin.

The show will take place Saturday, March 16 ,from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Edwards Hall at the NRCC campus.

The deadline for reservations is Feb. 9. For rules and a show application, contact M.J. Kanagy at 674-3600, ext. 200.

Logo competition deadline extended

BLACKSBURG - The deadline for the Blacksburg Bicentennial Logo Competition has been extended to Friday, Feb. 2, because of the inclement weather. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 2 to the town manager's office at 300 S. Main St.
