RADFORD - The Lamplighters are sponsoring a used book sale Feb. 9- Feb. 11 at the Radford Public Library during regular library hours. Proceeds will go to library benefit programs.

Honors program spring symposium
The Radford University's Honors Program is coordinating a spring symposium, "The Many Faces of the Americas," which focuses on the people and the culture of South and Central America and the common themes that tie us together. All events are free and open to the public.
On Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Heth Commonwealth Room, Allen Josephs will speak about bullfighting and its ties to the culture and people of Colombia. His presentation is titled, "Cesar Rincon: The Matador as National Hero."
Josephs has received a number of fellowships, grants and awards. He also has published books, poems, articles, essays and reviews. Josephs' presentation is co-sponsored by the Honors Program and Radford's Scholarly Lecture Series.
Study-abroad opportunities
Radford University's office of International Programs announced new study abroad programs for the summer and fall semesters in 1996.
An art history program is planned for May 15-June 11 in London. The price is $2,875 (airfare not included). Applications are due by March 15.
In Antwerp, Belgium, a program in European portrait art in media studies is scheduled for June 1-29. Radford University professor Bernard Timberg will accompany students and teach the four-week, six-credit-hour course. A 15-hour program in international communication will be offered in the fall semester in Salzburg, Austria. Professors David Dobkins and Gwen Brown will accompany the students. Dobkins can be contacted at 831-5282 for an application form. The trip's cost of $7,300 includes tuition, room and board, excursions and field trips. Airfare not included.
