JAMES B. TANEY, a partner in the firm of Anderson and Reed certified public accountants, has been awarded the Certificate of Educational Achievement by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in recognition of successful completion of its business valuation program.

THE REV. DR. JANET L. RAMSEY recently was licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a professional counselor. Ramsey received her master of arts degree in religion from Yale University Divinity School in 1976. She has a master of divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary and a doctorate in family and child development from Virginia Tech.

Ramsey practices at the Center for Family Counseling in Roanoke, where she specializes in midlife and aging-related issues, including coping with chronic illness, depression, divorce and remarriage.

ELAINE QUIROZ has earned the Certified Relocation Professional Designation from the Employee Relocation Council. To earn the designation, she demonstrated extensive knowledge in all areas of relocation, including residential real estate, appraisals, household goods transportation, and relocation tax and legal issues.

Quiroz, based in Roanoke, is national sales manager for Oakwood Corporate Housing of Los Angeles, the nation's leading provider for temporary housing for relocating executives.

SMITH HELMS MULLISS AND MOORE, a law firm in Charlotte, N.C., has announced the association of Roanoke native Corby Cochran Anderson. Anderson, a 1994 graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary. She is the former executive editor/executive publisher of the newsletter division of the Bureau of National Affairs.

Anderson is a member of the firm's litigation practice and lives in Charlotte.

NATIONAL POOLS OF ROANOKE, INC. won the Gold, Best in Show and the Gordon W. Rudd awards at the National Spa and Pool Institute Regional Show for Design and Construction.

The award honors the region's best example of swimming pool design and construction, both in technological advances and the harmony of the design plan with the surrounding area.

In 1991, after the death of Gordon W. Rudd, president of National Pools of Roanoke Inc., the institute established the Rudd award in memory of his work with the national institute.

JOYCE MICHAEL of Salem has been named the 1995 Travelers Regional Personal High Achiever award winner by Chapman-Logan Insurance Inc. and Travelers Insurance.

Michael has been recognized for outstanding achievement in customer service, use of automation, overall job performance and contribution to the organization.

MIKE ALLRED of N.A. Williams Co. was named salesperson of the year for Plasti-Kote Co. Inc. at the company's annual sales meeting in Las Vegas.

Allred received a crystal cup and a check from Plasti-Kote president, Pat McKenna.

Allred, who lives in Buchanan, covers the mid-South for the Georgia-based N.A. Williams.

BRUCE CODY, president of Architectural Wood in Roanoke, received the 1995 Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architecture's Society Honors. This award is presented to groups or individuals outside the society who have made significant contributions to architecture in Virginia.

SUZANNE BACCI has been appointed director of rehabilitation for the Kirby Group Inc.

Bacci received her degree in occupational therapy from the University of Florida. Her specialties are general orthopedics, hand rehabilitation and treatment of neurologically impaired clientele.

PATRICIA S. HALL of Roanoke was inducted into the Virginia Association of Life Underwriters Hall of Fame.

Hall was selected from among more than 3,000 members in the state and is the second female recipient since the award's inception in 1968.
