Jon Rodgers scored a game-high 15 points, and Bath County held Highland to less than 25 percent shooting for the game as the Chargers downed the Rams 68-34 on Thursday night in a Pioneer District boys' matchup in Hot Springs.
David Buzzard added 14 points for Bath County (9-2 overall, 2-2 district) and Stewart Alexander had 10. The Chargers shot nearly 50 percent for the game and forced 21 turnovers.
Highland (4-5, 2-3), which made 12 of 54 shots from the floor, was led by Jacob Hull, who scored 11 points.
Wednesday's games
Brookville 76, Staunton River 50: Three players scored in double figures to lead the Bees past the Golden Eagles in a Seminole District game in Lynchburg.
Kevin Elder scored 17 points, Ryan Ferguson added 14 and Yancy Moran 13 for Brookville (5-9). Ferguson had 10 of his points - including two 3-pointers - in the second quarter, when the Bees outscored Staunton River 20-6.
The Golden Eagles' Hunter Hoggatt led all scorers with 28 points, 15 of them on 3-pointers.
Martinsville 74, Dan River 70, OT: Jason Wells buried a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to tie the score at 66, then hit three free throws in overtime to lift the Bulldogs over the Wildcats in a Piedmont District game in Martinsville.
Sophomore Rasheem Penn led Martinsville with a game-high 27 points and Leander Preston added 20.
Dan River was led by Steven Guy, who scored 20.
Floyd County 70, Roanoke Catholic 49: The Buffaloes broke open a close game in the third quarter and beat the Celtics in a non-district game at Catholic.
Derek Saunders (17 points) and Travis Cantrell (16) led the way for Floyd County, which won the third quarter 19-6 to seize control.
The Celtics (2-10) got 17 points from Brendan McCarthy and 13 from Chad Wall.
