Denyse Marlene Anderson and Alex Darrell Lucas are engaged and planning to be married July 20, 1996, at Bethel Baptist Church in Salem, Va. Denyse is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kim G. Anderson of Salem. She graduated from Glenvar High School and attends Virginia Tech and will graduate in May 1996 with a B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. Alex is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert D. Lucas of Crows, Va. He graduated from Alleghany High School and from Virginia Tech in December 1995 with a B. A. degree in English

Austin-Downey

Mr. and Mrs. Hiram S. Austin, Jr. of Troutville, Virginia, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Leigh, to Charles Edward Downey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie S. Downey of Clifton Forge, Virginia.

Miss Austin is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and Virginia Western Community College in Radiography and Business Management. She is employed by Lewis-Gale Hospital. Mr. Downey is a graduate of Alleghany High School and is employed by Norfolk Southern.

Mrs. Marguarite L. Gill and Mr. Robert Sechrist of Roanoke, Va. announce the engagement of their daughter Teri Lynn to J. Dodd Fisher, son of Mrs. Harriett P. Conner and Mr. James D. Fisher, Sr., both of South Boston, Va.

She is employed by St. Marys Hospital. He is employed by the Postal Service and is a graduate of Danville Community College. Both currently reside in Chesterfield, Va.

A March wedding is planned.

Bryant-Gilmore

Lora Michelle Bryant and Carl David Gilmore, Jr. are engaged and planning to be married on April 20, 1996 in Roanoke. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norris C. Bryant of Salem. She graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Western Community College in Radiologic Technology. She is e mployed by Lewis-Gale Hospital in CT/MRI. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Gilmore of Bluefield, W.Va. He is a graduated of Montcalm High School, Bluefield State College in Bluefield, W.Va. in Radiologic Technology, and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals Nuclear Medicine Technology. He is employed by Lewis-Gale Hospital in Nuclear Medicine.

Daum-Dechow

Dr. and Mrs. Conrad Daum of Roanoke are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Denise Nicole, to James Philip Dechow of Columbus, Ohio.

Miss Daum is a graduate of North Cross School and the University of Virginia. She will receive a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Medical College of Virginia in May 1996. Mr. Decho w is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering. He is employed by Compath, Inc., in Vienna, Virginia.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Goodman of Roanoke, and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Osborne of Hiwassee, wish to announce the engagement of their children, Sara Goodman and Danny Osborne. Sara is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., where she earned a B.A. in M ass Communications. Sara is currently employed by First Union National Bank in Roanoke.

Danny is a graduate of D.H. Conley High School in Greenville, N.C. and is in his senior year at Campbell University where he is an NCAA Division I All-American Wrestler pursuing a B.S. in Exercise Science

Hall-Scarbrough

Mr. and Mrs. C. Wayne Hall of Roanoke are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sheila Anne, to Mark Alan Scarbrough, son of Mr. Vernon Scarbrough and Mrs. Betty Scarbrough, both of Charleston, S.C. A graduate of Cave Spring High School and Radford University, Sheila is employed at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mark is a graduate of Furman University and is employed by the computer firm, Blackbaud, Inc. in Charleston. The wedding is scheduled for June 15, 1996 in Charleston.

Hammett-Gniadek

Samantha Leigh Hammett and Steven Philip Gniadek are engaged and planning to be married on March 23, 1996 in Atlanta, Ga. Samantha is the daughter of Samuel D. Hammett of Roanoke, Va. and Pat M. Cotter of Atlanta, Ga. Steve is the son of Joan Gniadek of Pittsfield, Ma. and the late Raymond Gniadek. She attended Dekalb College and is employed by Post Properties in Atlanta, Ga. as a leasing consultant.

Steve graduated from the University of Massachusetts and is employed as a product manager with Mizuno USA in Norcross, Ga

Harris-Likens

Denise Elizabeth Harris and Michael Lindsey Likens are engaged and planning to be married April 20 in Roanoke. Denise is the daughter of Donna and Alfred Harris of Salem. She graduated from Radford University and Greenbrier East High School. She is employed by Roanoke City Sheriff's Department. Michael is the son of Warren and Trudie Likens of Roanoke. He graduated from Virginia Tech and William Fleming. He is employed by K-Mart Corporation.

Henning-Jebsen

Dr. and Mrs. George Durham Henning of Roanoke, announce the engagement of their daughter, Gretchen Elizabeth Henning to Christopher Warren Jebsen, son of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Alfred Arthur Jebsen of Columbus, Ohio.

Miss Henning is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is a senior at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

Mr. Jebsen is a graduate of Bexley High School, Columbus, Ohio and Wittenberg University. He is pursuing a Master's degree at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.

A July wedding is planned.

Hoover-Hawthorne

Melissa Hoover and Greg Hawthorne would like to announce their engagement this past Christmas Eve. The happy couple are planning their wedding for July 20th.

Hunt-Ramsey

Dr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Hunt of Blacksburg, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Staci Lynn, to Ensign Derek Nathaniel Ramsey, son of Captain and Mrs. Brenton L. Ramsey of Long Beach, Mississippi. The bride, a graduate of the University of Virginia, is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through Virginia Tech. The groom, also a graduate of the University of Virginia, is currently stationed at the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia.

After the wedding in March, the couple will reside in Guam, U.S.A

Leftwich-Smith

Michelle Ann Leftwich and Troy Jeffrey Smith are engaged and planning to be married May 11, 1996 in Roanoke.

She is a daughter of Robert L. Leftwich, and is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Radford University. She is employed by Hanover Direct. He is a son of Stan Smith of Salem, and is a graduate of Salem High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by Campbell Construction & Dev. Company.

Long-Jackson

Little Miss Ashley Jackson of Christiansburg announces the engagement of her father, George Christopher Jackson, to Krist ie Lynn Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Long of Bluefield, Virginia.

George is the son of Mrs. Lenore Jackson and the late Mr. George E. Jackson of Christiansburg. He is a 1989 graduate of Christiansburg High School and is a four year service veteran of the United States Army. He is employed by Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation in Dublin, Virginia.

Kristie is a 1990 graduate of Graham High School and a 1994 graduate of Radford University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and is employed as a Registered Nurse at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia.

A March wedding is planned.

Morris-Harless

Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Morris of Roanoke announce the engagement of their daughter, Wendy Elizabeth, to Mr. Steven Kelley Harless, son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Harless of Roanoke.

Miss Morris is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and George Mason University. She is currently a master's candidate at Hollins College. Wendy is employed by Roy L. Webber Florist, Inc.

Mr. Harless is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. He will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall. Steve is employed by Carilion.

O'Dell-Whitlow

Jenny O'Dell and Ray Whitlow are engaged and planning to be married on May 18, 1996. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip O'Dell of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Pulaski County High School and attends New River Community College.

He is a son of Mr. Curtis Whitlow and the late Mrs. Curtis Whitlow of Rocky Mount. He is a graduate of Franklin County High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. He is employed by Daco Construction.

Pennock-Walker

Kirstin Marie Pennock and Jason Phillip Walker, both of Portsmouth, Virginia, are engaged and planning to be married on July 27, 1996, at Virginia Beach, Va.

Ms. Pennock is a daughter of Mrs. William O'Brien of Roanoke and Mr. Richard C. Pennock of Radford. She was graduated from Radford University.

Mr. Walker is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Walker of Claremont, New Hampshire. He was graduated from Old Dominion University.

Both Ms. Pennock and Mr. Walker are employed as teachers in the Portsmouth City Schools.

Richards-Breedlove

Cynthia Nicole Richards and Russell Wayne Breedlove are engaged and planning to be married in the summer of 1996. She is a daughter of William Wayne Richards, South Daytona, Fl. and Patricia B. Richards, Roanoke. She is a graduate of Northside High School and is attending Dominion Business School. She is employed by Revco, Vinton store, as a Pharmacy Technician. Sheryl Lynn Shaver of Winter Springs, Florida, and Robert Manning Bradley of Cocoa Beach, Florida, will be married March 2, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. at Highlands Club House in Winter Springs, Florida.

Parents of Sheryl are George and Shirley Shaver of Christiansburg, Va., and mother of Robert is Bobbe Bradley of Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Melissa Jean Shelton, daughter of Mr. Roger Bowers and Mrs. Wanda Johnson, is to be married in July to Steven Michael Radle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Radle, of Huddleston, Va. The bride-elect is a graduate of Salem High School. She received her B.S. degree from Old Dominion University. She is employed by Montgomery County Schools. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Kings Park High School. He received his B.S. degree from the University Center at Binghamton. He is employed by G.E. Motors.

Shingleton-Jones

Roberta Rose Shingleton and SN David Allen Jones are engaged and planning to be married. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin T. Shingleton (Army Ret.) of Goodview. She is a graduate of Glenvar High School and currently attends Va. Western Community College. She is employed by RPS of Roanoke. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daryl T. Jones of Vinton. He is a graduate of Staunton River High School and is employed by The U.S. Navy, stationed on the U SS Thomas S. Gates, Norfolk, Va.

Singleton-Vest

Mr. and Mrs. H. Wayne Brown of Fincastle have announced the engagement of their daughter, Julia Lynn Singleton, to Jesse Ray Vest of Fincastle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Underwood, also of Fincastle.

Miss Singleton, a 1992 James River High School graduate, is a senior at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton.

Mr. Vest, a 1992 Lord Botetourt High School graduate, is employed by Semco, Inc. in Hollins.

A July 6 wedding is planned.

Skelding-Dills

On August 19, 1995, in Sterling, Virginia, Kathleen Ann Skelding, daughter of Robert and the late JoAnn Skelding, accepted the marriage proposal of Christopher Hill Dills, son of Terence D. Dills and Brenda C. Blondino.

Kathleen is a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and has completed her Bac helor's degree from East Tennessee State University. She is employed by Roanoke County Schools as a Special Education Teacher.

Christopher is a graduate of E.C. Glass High School. He is employed by Clean Lube as an Assistant Manager

The wedding will be held at Rivermont Presbyterian Church on November 2, 1996.

Sobataka-Sluss

Margaret ``Peggy'' E. Sobataka and Kevin Darrell Sluss are engaged and planning to be married on July 6, 1996 in Vinton. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey A. Sobataka of Salem. She was graduated from Glenvar High School and Virginia Western Community College. She is employed by John Hancock Financial Services. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruphas Sluss of Dublin. He was graduated from Tazewell County High School and is employed by Waste Management of Virginia-Blue Ridge.
